DESIGN & CONSULTANCY

RIS operates a design and engineering office to support the development and manufacture of products for use by Australian customers.

Engineering and Technical Officers also undertake QA inspections of manufacturing facilities of parts produced to RIS drawings. 

In addition to the design and development work for RIS products, the design staff also undertake consultancy work for customers needing additional support and special project work. Some examples are listed below:

BOGIES

A wide range of bolsters, sideframes, bogies and parts have been designed for various Australian operators and maintainers. 

CONSULTANCY

RIS staff are always available to assist in undertaking specific engineering and/or design work for customers needing additional input for special projects or ongoing operations.

RIS staff have designed flat wagons and hopper wagons for customers.

COUPLERS

In response to customer request RIS designed and developed an improved version of the standard Australian 254mm head coupler. Interchangeability of components was retained.
